FAQs
Turmeric is a bright yellow spice powder that derives from the root of a plant known as Curcuma longa. Curcuminoids are a family of active compounds within turmeric, this includes curcumin (major constituent), demethoxycurcumin (DMC) and bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC). Tetrahydrocurcumin (THC) is a product converted from curcumin by enzyme’s action of E. coli bacteria. In the human body, curcumin in the intestines is converted into THC by E. coli and that the produced THC is responsible for various psychological activities in the body. THC was found to be more potent than curcumin in different aspects, including antioxidative activity.
Bioavailability refers to the capability of a nutrient in having an active effect on the body after it has been introduced via blood circulation. The low bioavailability of curcumin is mainly caused by low water solubility, poor absorption by the body and rapid metabolism and excretion from the body. Instead of curcumin, FlexC MAX EX is formulated with tetradhydrocurcumin (THC), the body-ready form of curcumin, which has higher absorption and bioavailability than curcumin. Besides, this proprietary formula also contains BioPerine® black pepper extract to further enhance absorption.
Yes, you can. Please take FlexC MAX EX at least 2 hours apart from painkillers/NSAIDs to ensure the efficacy of FlexC MAX EX is not compromised. A study showed that significantly higher numbers of subjects reporting decreased or no use of NSAID after taking Curcumin C3 Reduct®* (one of the key ingredients in FlexC MAX EX) (Phytother Res 28: 1625 – 1631 (2014)). Another study showed the combination of turmeric and boswellia extracts was more effective than NSAID in reducing pain (Mol Med Rep 8(5): 1542-1548 (2013)), this suggests the efficacy of FlexC MAX EX in managing joint discomforts.
FlexC MAX EX is best to be taken after meals, especially meals containing fats. Studies showed the bioavailability of AKBA, a bioactive compound in Boswellia extract was significantly enhanced by a fat-containing meal (e.g. fried eggs, bacon, milk etc). Fat in foods also helps improve the absorption of tetrahydrocurcumin (a bioactive compound in turmeric root extract) in the body. Hence, taking FlexC MAX EX after meals would maximise its potency and efficacy.
FlexC MAX EX is highly recommended for those suffering from joint discomforts such as joint pain, stiffness, swelling or decreased range of motion. It is also beneficial for those with high risks of wear and tear on the cartilage; this includes the middle-aged and elderly, overweight individuals as well as athletes or the physically active. Besides joint pain, FlexC MAX EX is also effective for muscle pain, strain, spasm or past history of joint injury or fractures. Since FlexC MAX EX supports healthy inflammatory response / immunological functions, people who suffer from inflammation-related conditions such as heart problems, allergy, asthma, inflammation of digestive tract, etc can also benefit from taking to FlexC MAX EX.
The efficacy of FlexC MAX EX has been proven in multiple clinical trials. Boswellia reduced body ache up to 234%. A combination of Curumin C3 Complex®* and BioPerine® reduced joint pain by 38%, stiffness by 85% and increased mobility by 41% in patients with osteoarthritis. These improvements were noticed when the extracts were studied individually. Hence, the combined formulation and synergistic effects of all extracts in FlexC MAX EX is expected to support greater improvements. Most users could feel the difference within 3 days, though this may vary between individuals.
